I lived in Arequipa, Peru from September 2011 to November 2012. I taught English, practiced Muay Thai, and got really into learning Peruvian slang. I also visited Lima, Cuzco, Colca Canyon, and Playa Mollendo.
Netflix is like a graveyard for movies..
Started class on Friday and I’m teaching all basic classes. After advanced classes for the last 6 months, it’s time to rethink my approach and start talking slower. It’s been awhile since I have taught anyone under the age of 12. Reminds me of when I was back in El Salvador. On a completely unrelated note, I had to throw my Sperry’s away today. Clearly, my Sunday has been exhilarating.
Siglo Veinte // Ardidas
Siglo Veinte, one of the black markets here in Arequipa, Peru, clearly doesn’t even try to hide the fact that they are selling fake merchandise. I suppose it doesn’t matter though if you are a big fan of “Adadis”.
I’ve never seen so many shoes in one place in my entire life. The aisle goes for about a city block, but of course no one has a size 12. Received both of the books for my classes in March; so now begins the ‘fun’ process of dissecting the lessons and creating a month worth of lesson plans.
Looked into taking Portuguese classes but they charge more than I make in 2 hours of teaching English. I’ll just have to keep my eyes peeled for a Brasilian chica for some 'private lessons’.
The last picture was taken in the Plaza and they are all taxis. Getting around has never been easier.
